An Access Control White List will allow you to take control of where your Users can access the Platform. This could be to limit access so that Users only login from office locations. It does this by restricting access to the External Public IP and so only Users accessing with that network connection will be allowed access.
Included in the White List is an excluded Users List. Any User that has been selected here will still be able to access the platform outside of the IP restriction.
View the Access Control White List
To view the Access Control White List on a site, first select Settings from the COGS Menu and then select the Site Settings folder in the left pane menu.
In Site Settings click on the 'Access Control White List' to see which IP ranges have been allowed and also which Users have been excluded and so can still access the platform from outside of these ranges.
Setting IP Ranges for Access
You can set the IP address range using the following convention. First enter the full IP (220.127.116.11). This is a 32-bit integer value and we specify the number of bits to set the range.
18.104.22.168/32 will set the degree of accuracy to only allow the specific IP
22.214.171.124/24 will set the degree of accuracy to allow anything starting with 123.123.123.xxx
126.96.36.199/16 will set the degree of accuracy to allow anything starting with 123.123.xxx.xxx
188.8.131.52/8 will set the degree of accuracy to allow anything starting with 123.xxx.xxx.xxx
By default if no degree of accuracy has been stated then it will be based on a default of 24-bit to set the IP range.
If setting multiple IP ranges then this can be done by comma separating the IP values that you enter.
Note: Take care when setting IP ranges as this can lock a site if the ranges have been set to not allow anyone to log-in. We strongly recommend including your User in the Excluded Users list and testing with another User account first so that you will always be able to access the site in case the IP ranges need to be altered.
