This is a new step in Appstudio introduced in November 2021 -
Publishing an app comes after making any change to your application. You will see a tag appear in the folders menu next to the publish folder saying 'New Version' when the application is at a point ready to publish. You do not have to publish straight away when you see this, you can wait until you have all the changes you want to make ready. This tag will appear after making any changes to the app.
To Publish an App, you must first be in the 'Publish' section. Once there you will have the option to publish your app. You will soon be able to publish the app from anywhere in the site.
The indicators, are there to help ensure the basic coherence or your App. If they are not green, you should consider amending this prior to publishing. However providing you are happy for your App to be published and go 'live', you can click 'Publish Version' to commit your changes.

The box on the left shows the current version number you are on, the user who published last with the date and time of when it was published. On the right you can see the next version number when you publish the app. Below you can see the status of the publish for each language of the application.
Once you publish changes to an existing app, users will receive those changes within 10 minutes of being on the platform. This new publish greatly increases the sync time of your applications when they are offline.
Please note a few things coming soon to the new publish method to keep an eye out for:
- Ability to see what changes are being committed in the publish
- I higher level of audit trail on what changes have been made, who made them and when
- The ability to revert to previous versions of the application
- To compare and tests versions before they are published
