Amy Slater’s Journey - From Nocode Community Member to Softools Operations Analyst
NoCode is the new Renaissance. More and more professionals from all backgrounds are now capable of pivoting and transforming their careers and businesses with NoCode - from doctors, quality and food safety managers, to marketing professionals and café owners, and beyond.
The multiplicity of portfolios and the diversity of talent who begin their NoCode journey by taking the Softools AppBuilder Training is ever-growing! And we just welcomed one of them, a fresh graduate of the Softools App Builder cohort, as our team member!
We’re welcoming Amy Slater as our new Operations Analyst – who hails from a background in Psychology and human behaviour.
The Softools team had a welcoming interview with Ms Amy, and she shared her journey.
Softools: When did you start your NoCode journey?
Ms Amy: I did the Softools App Builder Course early this year, just a bit before getting a job at Softools. I really enjoyed the course and its practicality and its problem-solving aspects. It was interesting to see how easy it was to make an app and adjust it to a specific need. I made my own app on Softools to track my plants and their water, soil, temperature needs and more data, which further developed my Softools skills.
Softools: Have you had any technical or coding background before?
Ms Amy: I Graduated with a Psychology degree from The University of Sheffield in June 2022. I don’t have a technical background at all. I was more into studying about human behaviour and the processes of the brain.
Softools: Take us through some highlights of your journey as a professional and NoCode builder so far
Ms Amy: I previously tutored GCSE and A Level students when I was in Uni, mainly Psychology A Level and science GCSE. I loved this job, helping the kids further their confidence and explaining difficult concepts. It really developed my time management and confidence by doing this at the same time as studying. I also have experience helping clients in NoCode workshops.
When I joined Softools, I collaborated with Max Bateson from the Softools team and shadowed him for his client calls. Learned a lot about the enterprise NoCode app landscape - the requirements, processes and more.
Later, I attended the Deloitte workshops in London, which involved training app builders and solving use case-specific doubts. This involved coaching someone one-to-one through the Softools App Builder course and guiding them with real-time doubt-solving. I am now working on more complex apps, which involve working with expressions, and workflows and interacting with business users to improve their user experience too.
Softools: How do you like your experience so far?
Ms Amy: I am learning a lot, and getting to know more about app building and solving problems. I am now able to help clients with expressions, linking apps, improving clients’ processes and building micro-apps. Everyone at Softools has been very helpful and patient, and I really like working here. I also often write many articles on tips and tricks for the app builder community and would love to hear from them about their experience of app building!
