Our Dev team are working on an exciting new feature, Pop-ups - stay tuned to this newsletter to find out more about this new capability that brings a new way for users to view information as part of their Softools experience.  In the meantime, this edition features the release of new Workflow Action, an effective and efficient way to produce training videos to boost user adoption and how to maintain GDPR compliance and more.

Feature Improvement - Workflow Engine and Automation For Child App Updates

We have released a new workflow action that improves the process for keeping data synchronised between Parent and Child records which brings control over when data is synchronised because in some scenarios the requirement is not to update historic records but only new and in other cases historic records should update.
  
Now you can use our Workflow Engine for setting up trigger events that update Child Records automatically when a Parent Record is updated. This automation enables your apps to recalculate all expressions in bulk when the state of a record is updated. 

You can add a workflow trigger to the Parent Record, and the changes will be automatically applied to the Child Records, keeping data in synchronization without any additional manual effort.

Embedding Video Tutorials To Accelerate Training and Improve User Adoption

Video tutorials are increasingly being adopted over written user guides and help accelerate learning and user adoption. They also remain a standing knowledge base that can be used when a user faces challenges. Now with AI, making technical video tutorials is even faster and easier. 

In our recent community post, we cover a full step-by-step process for embedding AI-generated video content in your apps. From site/app navigation to How-to-use explainers can now be embedded on your app dashboards.

GDPR compliance - Requirements and Functionality

Compliance with GDPR regulations is a fundamental requirement for cloud-based apps that involve the use of personal data. Following the increasing tightening of user data ownership in cloud environments, including UK GDPR regulations enacted as of May 2018, the Softools platform allows a site-wide process to allow users to sign up for a data privacy policy as defined by the site Administrators. 

As a site administrator, you can tap into the features and functionality that help you set up and specify acceptance terms for users – which ALL users have to accept before using the platform.
