How to Add a Notion Page to a dashboard
In this post I'm going to be showing you how to add a Notion page to a dashboard in Softools. This can be a great way to share user guides, bulletin boards and more.
To add a notion page to a dashboard in Softools you need to use an iFrame
To do this, first go to dashboards in app studio and add a new one, labelling it as you see fit – for this example I have simply used Notion
For layout, click 1x1 (1 column and 1 row) and ensure you click “is global” so that this can be seen on a homepage rather than a singular app
Next you need to scroll down to dashboard layout and click the end button of </> as shown:
This allows you to use iFrames where you can embed URLs to access different websites through a Softools dashboard
Go to the website that you want to embed, in this example, a Notion page.
Unfortunately Notion does not have an easy way to get an iFrame link that can be used to display you page externally, but a user has created a site that allows you to create an iFrame link from a Notion sharable link. - https://embednotion.com/
So you need to go to your Notion page and open up the share folder in the top right hand of your screen. Turn on the share to web option and then copy the new URL created underneath.
Once you have the link go to https://embednotion.com/. Paste the link you copied before in the box above the green button. Then click the green button. After you will see some text appear below it and a preview of what your iFrame will look like.
Copy the text (Code Snippet) below and then paste this into the iFrame source box, back on the dashboard in app studio. Delete all the information outside of the first set of quotation marks.
Select the required width and height (we suggest 1200 width and 800 height) and then set the alignment to centre with a transparent background
Click save
Go to the homepage section of app studio
Create a new homepage and label it as you see fit
At the bottom click the second button to use a dashboard
Select the dashboard you just created and save
Go to workspace, sign out and sign back in (for homepages this is required as you cannot simply resync it)
This should now be shown as the dashboard shown.
