Using the Import function to quicken the creation of Long Selection Lists
Import functionality is now available when creating or amending Select Lists in the AppStudio side as opposed to via the 'Select Lists' Setting Application in Workspace - if unsure of what this is or how to create one then please reference the link below:
This post will specifically highlight the speed benefits .csv importation can bring, especially in the instances where long lists or many options are involved. You must first have created and saved a Select List with at least one option before having the option to Export/Import. Afterward these options are found under the 'Utilities' button, first Exporting will give you the appropriate .csv template (Export is downloaded from the 'Export Summaries' settings Application in Workspace), to then re-import the new options or changes with. Columns include: Id, Text, Value and DisplayOrder
You cannot change the Value of an existing option but the Text is editable, for this you should keep the system generated Id so the platform knows which option to change the Text on when you re-import. For any newly added options leave the Id blank and the system will automatically generate them upon Import.
You MUST assign a Text, Value and Display Order for each option to prevent the Import from failing.
Happy Importing!
