The App Home has features that allow the User to access app help and search for records via the search bar, as well as manage recent and pending records via tiles on the App Home. To access the App Home, click on the App Name in the Left Pane Menu.
Homepage Layout
The App Homepage is a fixed layout with customisation available on the design of the App Tiles. The App Name and Description are given to relay the context of the App. The following Sections cover specific features highlighted above.
To revert back to App Reports simply select one from the Left Pane menu and you will be able to access the views set out for your process by the App Builder.
Accessing App Context Information
The App help will display a modal that contains information about the App's title, description, category, publisher, and storage method.
Important when reporting issues, you can also find the App Version number here. Including this when you are speaking to your App Developer will help them in supporting your requests.
This area also lets you know what the offline capability is. You can check this in order to know whether you can carry on tasks whilst you have a drop in connectivity.
Using the Search Bar
The App Level search bar will search across all records within the app. This means it is not limited to any base filters that are predefined by the app developer. In the following example we have an issue log and we want to identify all records that are relevant to Quality Control.
Step 1: First access the App Home screen by clicking on the App Title in the left pane menu.
Step 2:
Next enter the search keyword(s) into the search bar. In this case we type in 'Quality'. If we wanted to refine the search further then we could be more specific such as using the keyword phrase 'Quality Control'.
Step 3: From here we have two options
- Open a Record: If we can see the record that we want in the scrollable results then by clicking on that result line, it will open the record for us to then view or edit as required.
- Open Results Table: Alternatively we can click on the bar at the bottom of the search results and this will open a table report that . The table report will be an unfiltered version of the default/first table report set for the App.
New and Recent Records via App Tiles
The homepage displays tiles representing different record states. Records that have changes yet to be synced are represented with a rubbish bin icon on the tile
-
Recent Records: Represent records that have been created and recently viewed or edited by the user.
-
Pending Records: Represent records that are either incomplete for creation or require validation checks to be updated.
Typically the App Home will present Records as the Record Title but if your App Builder has configured customised App Cards then more information can be available here to. Here we have the App Home for a Project App with Records in three different states.
State 1: This record is a pending create. we can see this as it has the '+' sign in the primary icon. Records that contain this symbol have not yet been created and so appear for only you until enough information is completed. If the Record is no longer required then it can be cleared by clicking on the rubbish bin icon. To complete the Record click on the tile to open it.
State 2: The second tile is a Record that has been recently viewed. It is complete as there is no '+' in the primary icon. We can see the information that the App Builder has discerned as the most pertinent for Projects. There is also a card swivel icon to cycle through different Project content.
State 3: This is the result of clicking the card swivel icon on a tile. It is now displaying a second level of information about a Project. You can cycle through the content of your recently viewed projects and click on the tile if you would like to open and edit project information.
