The action of requesting a change of password for a user profile is on the login screen. However, the current state of the user will determine what happens when they request a password reset.
- If the account is unverified and password reset is requested for added, imported and invited users, the login page will notify the user than an email has been sent but not actually send an email until the account is verified.
- If the account is unverified and password reset is requested for self-registered unverified users, the login page will send the password reset email out and verify the user in the process.
- If the account is verified and password reset is requested it will send out the password reset.
- If the password reset is requested multiple times, only the latest reset request will be valid and all previous emails (and links within those emails) will be invalid.
Reset Password Process
When you click the link to reset your password it will open a new window asking you to enter in the email address associated with the account you want to reset the password for.
Once you have filled this out and have clicked 'SEND EMAIL' you will then be taken back to the sign-in page with a message confirming the reset email has been sent.
An email will be sent from no-reply@softools.net asking you to confirm that you want to reset your email and take you to a page when you can enter in your new password.
Note: Should you fail to receive a system generated email in your inbox then it may be that it has been sent to a spam folder. It is also worth checking that there are no company level blocks on receiving emails from Softools.
When entering your new password and confirming it you will then be able to use your new password to sign in to the site.
Note: After a password reset email has been received, and until it is actioned, the user can still login using their existing password.
Note: The link contained within the password reset request email is valid for 14 days, after which the link will be invalid and fail
