This new field type sums a count of the total attachments on a single record when added. This can be particularly useful for training applications that give you badges and certificates that need to be attached to the records. With this field you can then see which records are missing these attachments for them to me resolved.
Configuring a new Attachments Field
To create a new Attachments Field, you must first be in the 'Fields' section of AppStudio, here you will be able to click the 'Add Field' button in at least one of the highlighted locations below.
This will open the following page where you can scroll down and select the the Attachments Field tile or search for it in the top right bar:
Once selected you will be presented with the configuration options below, you can only have one of these fields so the identify is preselected. This is also a report only field, this cannot be used in templates so it will not appear as an option in the template design view.
- Label: Visible in the App above the entry box it makes clear to the user what data is being displayed in the Field.
- Read Only: Makes the data in the Field non-editable (Read Only) - This is always on a it is a system generated value
Make sure to click the 'Save' button when making any changes in order for them to be added to the next app version. Once you have made all the changes you need to an application you are then ready to publish it to workspace.
Here is an example of it in use:
You can access the attachments on a record at the report level by clicking on the number in the report
You can access the attachments in a record by clicking on the clip in the bottom right.

This feature is very helpful when wanting to quickly access attachments from a list report. As per the image here, my list shows that my project has 2 attachments. When I click on the number 2, my screen quickly shows the 2 attachments and the option to view or download.
This feature is useful as I am saving time on visualising data. Thanks!
